9 News HD: The prime suspect in the killing of 15-year-old orphan Waseem Abbas in Multan has been killed in an alleged encounter with Punjab’s Crime Control Department (CCD) near Bahawalpur, police said on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

The suspect, identified as Tauqeer Nazir, was reportedly on police remand in connection with the teenager’s death. According to police, he had escaped from custody before the encounter took place.

CCD District Officer Irfan Akbar said a police team tried to stop two men riding a motorcycle near Bahawalpur’s Northern Bypass. The men allegedly opened fire while trying to flee, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Police said Tauqeer was killed during the incident, while his companion escaped.

The case gained public attention after Waseem Abbas was allegedly chased and hit by a car in Multan’s Royal Orchard housing society. Police said the teenager had been living at an orphanage and had recently been sent to work with Tauqeer to learn electrical work.

According to the police investigation, Waseem was trying to leave the workplace when he was allegedly pursued in a car and struck by the vehicle. CCTV footage reportedly showed the teenager running before the car hit him.

Tauqeer had been presented before a court in Multan, which granted police physical remand to investigate the murder case. Police had also been searching for another suspect, identified as Amjad, in connection with the incident.

Authorities have not yet explained how Tauqeer escaped from custody or reached Bahawalpur. The second suspect remains at large, according to reports.

The latest development has raised further questions about the custody escape and the circumstances of the alleged encounter. Further details may emerge as authorities continue their investigation.
