9 News HD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have called for talks with the federal government to end governor's rule and the state of emergency in the province. The party believes that negotiations could help resolve the political situation and restore its elected provincial government.
The decision was discussed during an online meeting of PTI's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa parliamentary party on Friday. More than 40 lawmakers attended the meeting, including former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Noor-ul-Haq Qadri.
According to party sources, members agreed that dialogue with the Centre should be the way forward to address the current issues. They also said that ending governor's rule and the emergency would help restore PTI's political mandate in the province.
Some lawmakers suggested including Ali Amin Gandapur in the negotiation process. They believe his participation could help the party discuss important matters with the federal government through mutual consultation.
PTI leader Shaukat Yousafzai also supported the idea of talks. He urged the federal government to reduce political tensions and withdraw governor's rule and the emergency in KP.
The parliamentary party also supported the decision not to bring party workers onto the streets for protests after the new measures were imposed. Members believed that street protests could create further tensions and lead to unwanted incidents.
The latest development comes as political differences between PTI and the federal government continue over the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It remains to be seen whether both sides will agree to negotiations and find a solution to the ongoing political crisis.
