A video circulating on social media allegedly showing a Pakistan Army armoured vehicle charging at civilians in Balochistan has been found to be old and unrelated to Pakistan.

The video shows a mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) vehicle moving through a crowded area while people appear to throw stones at it.

Several social media users shared the footage in August 2026, claiming that it showed Pakistani security forces using an armoured vehicle against civilians in Balochistan.

However, the video predates the current claims by more than five years and has previously been linked to an incident in Afghanistan involving Western military forces.

Fact Check

A reverse search of keyframes from the viral video traced the footage back to December 2020.

The earliest versions found online include a Reddit post published on December 6, 2020, describing the footage as showing US troops encountering hostility from Afghan residents.

The original uploader later clarified in the comments that the forces may not have been exclusively American but were Western or allied forces.

The same footage was also uploaded to other platforms in December 2020, with descriptions identifying the location as Afghanistan.

Several Russian media outlets also reported on the footage at the time. Their reports described Afghan residents throwing stones and other objects at a Western military vehicle, forcing it to leave the area.

An earlier fact-check by India Today also examined the same video in 2022 and found that it had been circulating online since December 2020 with references to Afghanistan and US military forces.

Archived versions of a YouTube upload from December 2020 also carried a Spanish-language title identifying the incident as involving US military vehicles in Afghanistan.

Reverse-searched keyframes from the viral video and found that it was posted on Reddit on 6 December 2020 with the title, “Apparently US troops have yet to win the hearts and minds of Afghan people”.

No Evidence of Balochistan Connection

The viral posts circulating in August 2026 provide no evidence showing that the footage was recorded in Balochistan.

No reliable source was found linking the video to a recent incident involving the Pakistan Army or civilians in Balochistan.

The video's online history clearly predates the current claim and points toward Afghanistan.

The footage has therefore been taken from an old incident and falsely presented as evidence of a recent event in Balochistan.

Viral Spread

The video was shared more than 40 times on Facebook, including by accounts from India and Afghanistan.

It was also shared multiple times on Instagram, TikTok and Reddit.

On X, three posts carrying the footage collectively received nearly 440,000 views.

The misleading posts used emotionally charged captions to associate the old footage with alleged tensions between civilians and security forces in Balochistan.

Conclusion: The viral video does not show a Pakistan Army vehicle charging at civilians in Balochistan. The footage dates back to December 2020 and has previously been identified as showing an incident involving Western military forces in Afghanistan. The video is therefore old and unrelated to the current claim about Balochistan.
