9 News HD: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has warned the Afghan Taliban against testing Pakistan's military capabilities.
He said the Taliban regime does not have the ability to withstand the response Pakistan could deliver if threats from Afghan territory continue.
Speaking in an interview with Reuters, the DG ISPR said Pakistan has the necessary capabilities to deal with security threats from Afghanistan, including possible drone attacks. He added that the Pakistan Army is well prepared to respond to any challenge and has improved its operational readiness.
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry also raised concerns about the Afghan Taliban's access to drone technology. He said Afghanistan does not have its own drone industry and claimed that such technology was being provided by outside sponsors.
The military spokesperson also accused the Afghan Taliban of allowing militant groups to operate from Afghan territory and carry out attacks inside Pakistan. He urged the Taliban authorities to stop supporting armed groups and prevent terrorist leaders from using Afghanistan as a safe place.
He further said Pakistan was not interested in isolating Afghanistan but wanted its authorities to act responsibly and prevent cross-border terrorism. According to him, Islamabad remains open to engagement with Kabul, but expects action against groups threatening Pakistan's security.
The DG ISPR also highlighted the Pakistan Army's use of modern technology, including drones, cyber capabilities and artificial intelligence, to deal with changing security challenges.
His remarks come at a time when relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan remain tense over cross-border attacks and security concerns. Pakistan has repeatedly called on the Afghan Taliban to take action against militant groups operating from their territory.
