9 News HD: Pakistan have moved ahead of Australia to take fourth place in the latest ICC Men’s ODI team rankings. The rise comes after Pakistan won their first two matches against Sri Lanka and England in the ongoing ODI tri-series in Rawalpindi.
Pakistan now have 103 rating points, while Australia have dropped to fifth place with 102 points. South Africa remain third with 104 points, just one point ahead of Pakistan. India lead the rankings with 115 points, followed by New Zealand with 109.
Pakistan’s rise follows their strong 87-run win over England on Tuesday. Young all-rounder Arafat Minhas played a key role in the victory by scoring 59 runs off 58 balls and taking six wickets for 40 runs.
Pakistan had a difficult start with the bat, losing four wickets for 81 runs. However, Hasan Nawaz scored 79 runs, while Minhas added a valuable half-century. Faheem Ashraf also made a quick 39 runs to help Pakistan reach 302 runs for nine wickets in 50 overs.
England struggled during their chase and were bowled out for 215 runs in 38.4 overs. Minhas led Pakistan’s bowling attack and helped his team secure a convincing victory.
The latest ranking change is good news for Pakistan cricket fans, as the team continues to build momentum in the tri-series. Pakistan will now look to maintain their winning form and move closer to third place in the ODI rankings.
With South Africa only one point ahead, Pakistan have a chance to improve their position further if they continue to perform well in upcoming matches.
