PM Shehbaz Meets Xi, Putin, Erdogan on SCO Sidelines

The informal interactions took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere, with the prime minister engaging with leaders on matters of mutual interest.

He met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Earlier, upon his arrival at the summit venue, Prime Minister Shehbaz was warmly received by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov, with the two leaders exchanging a handshake.

The prime minister later joined other participating leaders for a group photograph before the formal proceedings of the summit began.

Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan sign bilateral agreements

Meanwhile, Pakistan and the Kyrgyz Republic on Wednesday signed multiple bilateral agreements to enhance cooperation in trade, security, education, environment and technology.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov witnessed the signing ceremony, during which representatives of the two countries exchanged the pre-signed documents.

The two leaders also signed a joint statement outlining the key discussions and objectives of Prime Minister Shehbaz’s three-day visit to Bishkek to attend the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting.

Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan also signed a Diplomatic Programme of Cooperation between their foreign ministries for 2026–2027.

In addition, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad and the National Institute for Strategic Initiatives of the Kyrgyz Republic to strengthen cooperation in research and strategic studies.
